This  German composer who spent most of his life in Austria was born in 1770 and died in 1827. He is best known for pushing the limits of Classical form and harmony and bridging into the Romantic Era. He wrote works for piano such as Für Elise, Pathetique Sonata, and Moonlight Sonata. He composed 9 symphonies and although he did not compose frequently for voice, he was the first to utilize a chorus in the 4th movement of his 9th symphony.
