I gave him headphones because he can not tolerate loud noises.

The tags on the back of my shirt are so annoying.

She screams when she does not get the color pencil she wants.

We were making Oobleck in Science class and my student was so tactile sensitive.(Hypersensitive)
Gloves
He just can not handle the noise in the cafeteria or during assemblies.
Headphones
She fell on the concrete and was bleeding but got right back up and kept on walking.
Hyposensitive
My student is so bothered by the smell of tuna, she has to exit the classroom if someone has it.
Olfactory
Student keeps getting up and walking around the room even after repeatedly being told to stay at their desk. You soon notice the mostly do this during Math which is difficult for them.
Behavior- Avoidance
I knew we were having an assembly the next day, and I wanted eliminate my students having meltdowns with the routine changing.
What are verbal cues, visual cues reminders of schedule changes?
He is constantly talking so loud and over people in the classroom. It is very hard to teach.
Noise visual. Talking stick.
He did not even seem to notice the fire alarm going off, we had to prompt him to exit the classroom.

He was always bumping into things in the hall and had a terrible sense of balance.

He hides under the table whenever someone else in the room is loud.
What is Escape or Sensory--- get to know your student, do they only do this with the loud noise of voices or with all loud noises?
Sensory Seekers
What type of student are are movement breaks, fidget tools, and heavy work good for?
Sometimes he just needs a few minutes to take a break in between lessons or he gets overwhelmed.
Calming corner, sensory path, Breathing breaks, Movement Breaks
He was in constant motion, moving around and touching everything even smelling things in the classroom.
Sensory Seeker
He was always rocking back and forth on his chair and sought out the swings at recess.
Vestibular
He rocks back and forth on his chair or sways his head side to side all day. he is always moving. It is distracting. I ask him stay still and he keeps moving!
Sensory
Weak hand strength OR difficulty with sensory processing in the area of tactile processing (avoiding touch, poor awareness of body in space)
What would I do if his writing was so light I could barely read it? Allow him time to build up his hand strength with small manipulatives' and playdough. Also have him use a shorter pencil at times and tried using a weighted pencil to see if that helps.
She is constantly touching things she is not supposed to touch, it seems she can not help herself.

Another student gently bumped to him in the hall and he began crying, it set him off for the rest of the day.

Student starts throwing a fit when I announced PE was canceled today due to an assembly, he threw himself on the floor and had a complete meltdown.

When he walks in line, he always bumps into the children in front of him, it seems he is not aware of himslef in space.

I just do not know what to do with this student!!!
Consult with the OT in your building. They have lots of tools. They will try and help. If they don't try and help, ask me.
