I would describe the mood to be casual in seedfolks. For example Leona says “You ever watch a sax player close? They push down a key and way at the other end of the instrument something moves. That's what I was looking for—the key that would make that trash disappear.” Notice how Leona uses the word “you”. Its basically like shes talking right to us in a nice casual tone.

People are still getting along in the garden. The characters even have an impromptu party where they share lots of their fruits and veggies. But the weather is getting colder so this lets us know that growing season is winding down.
