When Jesus says he is the resurrection, he is saying he has power over death. The next part of this I AM statement is “I am the life.” Not only does Jesus have the power to overcome death, he has the power to give us life!

He means that he wants to fill our empty hearts. Without Jesus, we would go hungry. We may have food in our bellies, but spiritually, we would have nothing without him.

Jesus is saying that he is the light that led the people with Moses through the desert and away from Pharaoh. He is saying he is the only one that can light up our lives, and lead us out of darkness.
What did Jesus mean when he said he is the Gate of the Sheep?
He is saying he is they way to a good life. A good shepherd takes great care of his sheep, and makes sure they have everything they need. He is saying that he is the only way to salvation.
When Jesus compares us to sheep, He is not paying us compliments.
Why?
Sheep aren't the cleanest animals and without the shepherds help they stay dirty. Just like them, humans can't get rid of their spiritual dirtiness themselves. We have to go to Jesus to be cleansed of our sins.
