The most exciting part/highest point of interest. The turning point.

Life lesson, big idea, author's message
Define foreshadowing.
Providing a hint/clue about what is to come.

There are 2 types of flashbacks. Internal and external.
Define tone.
Tone: Narrator's attitude towards the topic, characters, or readers. Inferred not stated.

Dramatic irony: when the reader knows something the characters do not.
Example: "Lamb to the Slaughter" we know Mary killed her husband with the lamb leg, the detectives do not.

direct foreshadowing is explicitly stated (prophecy/revelatory statement) whereas indirect foreshadowing is not.
