What is backing?
Originally known as the College Gymnasium, this building housed a basketball court with an indoor swimming pool underneath the floor, the first of its kind in northern Arizona, and the first indoor athletic facility at Arizona State Teachers College at Flagstaff.

This has been a week long tradition since 1924. It includes a parade, pep rally, bonfire, Lumberjack pageant, tailgating and football game that is attended heavily by alumni, students, faculty and staff.

Built in 1930, this building initially housed the Registrar's and Deans' offices in addition to classrooms, the school newspaper, and the library. A dumbwaiter was used to carry books from the basement to the library top floor.

Anything that takes your attention away from driving and can cause collisions, resulting in injury, death or property damage.
What is distracted driving?
Constructed in 1922, this separated the school and the town. There are portions that still stand between Morton Hall and the North Union and at the corner of Dupont and Knoles. In 2003 the university incorporated some of the stones in the construction of the Japanese Teahouse and Gardens on south campus.

Built in 1883, this was the first elementary school in Flagstaff. It was demolished by Northern Arizona Normal School to make room for the new Teacher Training School, now the Blome Building.

This action disengages the engine from the drive train so the vehicle won't move and reduces load on starting motor.
What is a Safe Start?
This custom date back to 1936. Student organizations across campus annually select a faculty or staff member who they feel demonstrated exceptional service to the university and interest in its students and honors them during Homecoming Week.
What is Homecoming Dedicatee?
Built in 1987 and originally called the "South Activity Center", this is the only hall on campus with carpeted rooms.

This system applies the brakes and holds the throttle in idle position when one or more doors are open.
What is the interlock system?
Built in 1925 to add beauty to the campus, it was destroyed on January 11, 1953 at 11pm when 3 students blew it up with 15 sticks of dynamite, breaking over 100 windows in Old Main, the North Union, Ashurst, Bury, Morton and Taylor Halls.
What is the fountain?
Pump the brake pedal three times then hold pedal down for five seconds; if there is no backup system then check that the dash light is off; if there is a backup system, depress the brake pedal and listen for the sound of the reserve system electric motor.
