Describe the Discount Sharing Threshold
The Discount Sharing Threshold is the rate/amount of the advisory fee that represents the maximum amount the Home Office will share in the loss of revenue with the advisor. Any discounting beyond this threshold will result in the advisor giving up additional compensation with the full burden of that loss being upon the advisor.
A Rep has a client with an existing Signature Portfolio Account that is depositing $1,000,000 into the account. The account has a current balance of $1,000,000 prior to the deposit. They would like to invest $200,000 immediately, DCA $300,000 of the money into the account over 12 months, transfer $50,000 to their bank account and send the remaining funds to a NM Annuity. The Signature Portfolio TLH SR reviews the account for losses greater than $100 within securities in the account that have not been purchased within the last 30 days (the user has the ability to add wash sale securities back in if desired) and presents those securities to be sold. Simultaneously the system will propose buys into the TLH replacements to be held for 30 days. This SR is completed to sell losses in an account to book on the client's tax return to balance out current or future gains.
