100
A physical property of a metal meaning that it can be coiled into a wire.
What is ductile
100

The definition of a producer

What is something that produces its own food from the sun's energy

100
An instrument for measuring voltage in a circuit
What is a voltmeter? How do you connect a voltmeter? What is the schematic symbol for a voltmeter?
100

What is the name of the process where two smaller atoms become a larger atom and energy is released.

Nuclear fusion

Draw the Bohr Rutherford and Lewis dot diagram for Potassium
K -protons and neutrons in the nucleus. 19 protons, 21 neutrons. electrons in orbits. 2-8-8-1
200

What are the 6 main processes in the carbon cycle?

Photosynthesis, Respiration, Emissions, Food Chain, Decay, Ocean Acidification

200
Draw a circuit with a 3 cell battery, 3 lamps in series, a voltmeter measuring the voltage across the battery, and an ammeter measuring the current at the second lamp.
What are kirchoff's laws for parallel and series circuits?
200
Evidence for the Big Bang Theory
What is Red Shift (expanding universe), cosmic background radiation (the glow left over from the explosion)
300
Group 8 of the periodic table.
What are the noble gases
300

Describe the process of Eutrophication

Excess nutrients in a body of water cause an algae bloom. The excess algae is decomposed by bacteria which use up oxygen in the water

300
Potential difference is another word for...
What is voltage

Rank the 3 types of stars from longest life span to shortest

low mass, intermediate mass, high mass

400
The test for hydrogen gas.
What is the burning splint "pop" test?
400

The amount of energy passed between trophic levels. The reason for this

What is 10%. The other 90% is used for reproduction, movement, and other life activities. Also, the entire organism is not eaten.

400

Two ways of charging an object. Describe how they work

What are friction ( Material with higher affinity for electrons becomes negative, lower affinity positive), Contact (charged object passes then same charge onto the object it touches)

400

Why are the inner planets rocky and the outer planets are gaseous?

Radiation blast from fusion when the sun was formed.

500
The density of a liquid with a mass of 77g and a volume of 35mL.
What is 2.2 g/mL? would this float on top of water or sink below?
500
List the 3 effects of deforestation that we learned in class

- eutrophication

- increased chance of drought (less transpiration)

- increasing temperatures (reduced canopy effect)

500
Explain the process of lightning.
Ice pellets in the clouds rub against eachother (friction), The bottom of the cloud becomes negative due to charge separation. The negative charge of the bottom of the clouds induces a charge separation on the surface of the earth. The electrons move away because protons never move. A discharge occurs where the electrons move towards the positives and the discharge is seen as lightning. Like a big spark!

Describe how a star is formed

Gas and dust in a nebula begin to collect in a protostar and gain mass. When mass increases, the force of gravity increases. Once the pressure from gravity and temperature are high enough, nuclear fusion begins and a star is formed.
