You can begin in Middle School; many middle school students volunteer through their church and in their community and through their school; also, some have summer jobs, e.g., babysitting, mowing laws, etc.

Trick Question. It can be both. Although many professors do not require attendance, it becomes a disadvantage when learning the material needed for your exams There are professors that will take points off your final grade for every missed class.

Only certain colleges will require you to live on campus.
When is your official GPA started?
With your first high school credit course (advanced math, languages etc that can be taken in middle school.
What is GPA?
It is a Grade Point Average. An average of all of your High School credit classes.
Can you drop a class in college?
Yes, but remember you can have consequences. Many schools will not give you a refund after a certain amount of time. Also, in some cases, the drop shows up on your official transcript.
What is FAFSA?
It is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Almost all colleges require that you complete one.
How many colleges should you apply to?
At least 3: your dream college, your second choice and a fallback.
