What does the executive branch do?
In charge of putting laws into action.
What is the point system?
A system to determine whether or not you are qualified for immigration into Canada.
A person whose first language is French.
What is Consumerism?
Consumerism is the economic theory that links prosperity to consumer demand for goods and services, and that makes consumer behaviour central to economic decision making.
What are social programs?
Social programs are services provided by the government to reduce economic inequalities and promote the well-being of citizens in Canada.
What did the YCJA replace?
It replaced the CCOC which is the Criminal Code of Canada.
How many points do you need to qualify?

Taxes are the fees we pay to the government to pay for social programs. Some examples are income tax, sales tax, and coorperate tax.
Profit is financial gain.
What are the names of the two advocacy groups?
John Howard Society and the Elizabeth Fry Society.
How does Canada benefit from the point system?
What are the four freedoms in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms?
Freedom to express your own opinions, Freedom to choose your own religion, Freedom to organize peaceful meetings and demonstrations, Freedom to associate with any person or group.
What are Boycotts?
Is a decision by a group of consumers not to buy certain products.
What is tax evasion?
Avoiding taxes.
Why are there lobby groups?
To influence MPs and other government members.
How are supply, demand, and price all related?
You need supply to have demand and you need to have price, or money to have demand for a product.
How is voting a right and responsibility?
It is a right, because it was stated in the Charter. It is a responsibility as a citizen of this country to vote.
How does consumerism affect your quality of life?
If you buy a product that is bad for the environment, it will affect the environment.
How are the branches of government held accountable to each other?
The Judicial branch keeps the power of the government in check, the executive branch makes laws for the legislative branch to pass.
Where are the political parties of the economic continuum? Conservative, NDP, Liberal, Green?
Conservative is on mixed, NDP is inbetween but closer to mixed and planned, Liberal is closer to planned than mixed but in between. Green in almost at planned but still a little bit in between.
What happened in 2003 for the Metis nation?
They were granted hunting and fishing rights.
