Interpreting Indirect Questions
You are at the mall with some friends, one asks, "Hey how much money do you have? as they show you something they want to buy.
Friend is indirectly asking for their friend to pay for something.
What does selfish mean? How can this impair friendships?
Being selfish means only thinking about yourself; self-centered, egocentric. This can ruin friendships because one person always get what they want, their way, etc. and disregard their friends feelings and opinions.

Sarcasm is a figure of speech. Typically a comment or statement which means the opposite of what it says. Tone of voice and word choice directly effect the meaning or interpretation.
