Why do we view social structure in a pryamid?
We use a pyramid to show social structure because it shows that only a few people have the most power at the top, while most people are at the bottom with less power. It helps us easily see how society is organized.

High fever and chills, Painful, swollen lymph nodes called "buboes", Headaches and muscle aches, Fatigue and weakness, In some cases, coughing up blood
Treatments : Bloodletting to "balance" the body's humors, Applying herbs or onions to buboes , Drinking vinegar or eating crushed minerals, Praying and religious processions
What are misconceptions of the black plague?
-Jewish people were prosecuted and sacrificing
-Doctors wore masks to ward off evil spirits and the beak was far away from there noses, staff with incense to ward of spirits
-God was punishing them
-Burning of bodies, Burial system thought it could spread through smell
Explain the serf peasants
Serfs could not leave the land, choose their jobs, or improve their social status. Their hard work supported the entire system, yet they received only basic protection and survival in return. Peasants worked insanely hard for their crops which got taken away by taxes, leaving them with barely enough food to survive.
How does social structure of ancient civilizations differ/compare from the United States
Social structure- in US, people can move between social classes through education, careers, or entrepreneurship, celebrities (though barriers still exist). Ancient is more rigid.

Overcrowded cities with poor sanitation, Lack of proper waste disposal systems, Limited understanding of hygiene and disease transmission, Close proximity between humans and animals
