Large fair events that were held in Georgia's current capital (Atlanta), made to show Georgia's industrial growth and agricultural growth. Promoting Georgia as a more modern, business-friendly state.
What were the International Cotton Expositions?
An insect that infested and invaded Georgia, causing cotton to get eviscerated because it fed off the bulb of the cotton. Forcing most people to have to move further north.
What is the boll weevil?
A male journalist who encouraged the idea of a "New South". Encouraged industrial growth and Northern investing. He supported the idea of the South and North becoming peaceful again, yet accepted segregation.
Who Was Henry Grady?
Methods used to stop African Americans from being able to vote. These included poll taxes and literacy tests.
What is disenfranchisement?
A court case that was created because the plaintiff sat on a train car meant for only white people. The final verdict of this case was to establish a "separate but equal" doctrine. Said doctrine never fully worked until further on.
