England and France were at war with each other. To try to hurt the other, they began blocking trade from the US, hurting our economy. England then began to capture US sailors and force them to join the British Navy. In addition, England was helping/encouraging Native Americans to resist American westward expansion. These made the US declare war on England.

The South produced raw goods on plantations with slave labor (things like cotton, corn, wheat, and indigo flowers). The South would then send it up to the North to be processed into finished goods in Northern factories.
