Before he floated like a blutterfly and stung like a bee, he trained with police Sergeant Joe Martin in Spalding's very own gym after having his new red Schwinn bicycle stolen adn reporting it to Sgt. Martin, stating he was going to "whup" the thief who stole his bike. A multicultural center and award-winning museum in Louisville is now dedicated to his life and legacy.

Who is Muhammed Ali

Similar to a work study position, this job assignment offers tuition reimbursement and opportunities to work in different departments around campus, including the SOPP and library.

What is a Graduate Assistanceship (GA)?

This place has study rooms (group & individual) and is a great place to study. Oh, and there's a decent Starbucks coffee and tea machine too.

Elected by their fellow students, these individuals are your liaisons between faculty and students. You can trust them to advocate for your needs and help you navigate tricky issues.

What is the Forensic Emphasis Area?

Kentucky produces the largest amount of this beverage. The secret for it to be counted, is a mixture that is 51% corn and aged in new oak barrels.

No longer at midnight, this procedure is where you utilize your 5-Year-Plan (you'll find about that more tomorrow) to figure out your journey into each semester. Don't stray from your plan without approval from Dr. Chapman and your EA Director!

Known for his great facial hair, this approachable professor is particularly interested in seeing the applications of virtual reality in psychology. Oh, and he's in a Pink Floyd cover band too!

Who is Dr. Katsikas?

They are the directors of the Neuropsychology Emphasis Area: one focuses on adults, the other pediatric/adolescents. You can expect to have them as instructors for courses like Cognitive/Intellectual Assessment, Assessment of Personality, Biological Basis of Behavior, Psychopharmacology, and Geriatrics

Hungry? Located on the north end of campus, this building was most recently home for the Kosair Shriners and Kosair Shrine Temple. Now it houses the recently rennovated dining hall, and a ballroom where some of our important meetings will be held.

The Director of the Center for Behavioral Health (CBH), she is a SOPP graduate. She's passionate about helping students learn more about university counseling centers, community mental health, and private practice.

Who is Dr. Beaulieu ("Dr. Claire")?

A Spalding graduate herself, she practices mindfulness-based therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and has research interests including youth adherence to medical treatment regimens, specifically as it relates to self-management and the family's negotiation of treatment allocation. Oh, and she's the director of the Health Emphasis Area.

What is the Test Kit Center (TKC)?

This building is known as the "starting point" for many visitors to campus. It hosts the bookstore, Bursar Office, and Financial Aid. It's also typically where many of our faculty/student meetings can be held.

What is the Egan Leadership Center ("ELC")?

This professional runs the Collective Care Center, trained in a variety of mental health settings, believes in the nature of collective healing and values being grounded both in identity and community. Some of the examples of training she has had has been in residential treatment, juvenile detention, community mental health, and more.

Who is Dr. Gardner?

She wears so many hats - and will likely talk to you about juggling balls tomorrow. She also serves as the director of the Advanced Clinical Emphasis Area. She approaches therapy from an interpersonal perspective and is also passionate about teaching students how to work effectively and compassionately with trauma survivors.

In the spring, the entire program gets together to celebrate internship placements. We're known for an impressive high rate of placements, so there's something to celebrate every year!

Divided into East and West sides, this historic complex has been around since Spalding's inception (1920). It was also designated a Kentucky landmark (1973) and listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1977). You can find the TKC, the CBH/CCC, student mailboxes, and faculty offices.

What is The Mansion Building?

Known affectionately by the students as "The Big 3", these individuals lead the program AND teach fundamental courses you will take during your time in the SOPP. They genuinely want your feedback and are invested in your careers! (Must name all 3)
