The U.S. wanted to guarantee that the country would not pose a military threat in the future, and Japan later had a very stable, democratic government, with it's citizens having many rights.

The UN imposed military sanctions and the U.S. and 19 other countries joined in to help. The UN forces backed out the North Korean forces back into North Korea and into their territory. China then helped North Korea and it ended with both sides back where they started.

The U.S. fought back because they had to take a stand against communist aggression, and the result which was a stalemate, showed that the U.S. had successfully contained the communist rise to South Korea.

The U.S. took out its soldiers from Vietnam because of all the protests in the U.S. against the war. By doing this, South Vietnam became weaker since it lost the help of the U.S. and the war ended in a cease-fire.
