Explain why day and night occur on Earth.

One side of Earth is always facing the Sun and one side is always facing away from the Sun. Because Earth continuously rotates on its axis, each side spends about 12 hours in the daylight and 12 hours in the dark which is called day and night. This cycle repeats over and over again.

500
What causes moon phases?

Moon phases are caused by the moon's revolution around the Earth.

500

Shadows move and change throughout the day because the Sun's position in the sky changes.

500

Oxygen and Nitrogen

500

Define axis.

The imaginary line that celestial bodies spin around.

500

What causes seasons and why does the weather change as seasons change?

Earth's tilt plus its revolution around the Sun causes seasons. The weather changes with the seasons because as Earth's position around the Sun changes throughout the year, the northern and southern hemispheres either get more sunlight, less sunlight, or equal amounts of sunlight during the day. More sunlight = warmer temperatures. Less sunlight = colder temperatures.
