What is the largest planet in our solar system?

Jupiter

100
Define a fixed orbit

An object in such an orbit has an orbital period equal to Earth's rotational period, one sidereal day, and so to ground observers it appears motionless, in a fixed position in the sky.

What is the difference between a natural and an artificial satellite

One is God made like the mood and one is man-made like the international space stations

Which galaxy does our solar system live in?

The milky way galaxy

List all the planets in order

mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune

What is the difference between an asteroid, a comet, and a meteor?

An asteroid is a small rocky object that orbits the Sun. A meteor is what happens when a small piece of an asteroid or comet, called a meteoroid, burns up upon entering Earth's atmosphere. A comet has a tail.

What are the three things that humans need while living in space

oxygen, rest and food

What are the phases of the moon?

new Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full Moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent.

200

How long does it take for the earth to rotate around the sun? What makes a day a day?

365 days. The earth has one revolution in 23 hours and 56 minutes which makes one day
300

What is the difference between a gaseous planet and a terrestrial planet?

A gas giant is a GIANT planet that is made of gas! They are different from rocky or terrestrial planets that are made of mostly rock

300

What is a dwarf planet and why is pluto considered a dwarf planet now?

a dwarf planet is a celestial body that -orbits the sun, has enough mass to assume a nearly round shape, has not cleared the neighborhood around its orbit and is not a moon. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of a dwarf planet because it did not meet the three criteria the IAU uses to define a full-sized planet.

300

How long does it take the moon to get through the whole of all the phases in a cycle?

The cycle repeats once a month (every 29.5 days).

300

What makes the seasons happen?

The earth's position from the sun changes the seasons.

400

Which planet in our solar system has the most moons

Jupiter

400

What is the asteroid belt

There are hundreds of thousands of asteroids that form a scattered ring of asteroids that orbit the sun. The asteroid belt is located between the planets Mars and Jupiter. Not all asteroids are in the asteroid belt, however, most of them are and sometimes asteroids are forced out of the asteroid belt by gravity and sent towards the outer solar system instead.

What is the difference between a meteor and a meteorite?

A meteor is an asteroid or other object that burns or vaporizes when it enters the Earth’s atmosphere. Sometimes asteroids will be on a trajectory to collide with the Earth. This is not dangerous because our atmosphere vaporizes and burns the larger asteroids so that nothing remains. We see this process happening when we see a “shooting star” in the sky. Very rarely, a small piece of the asteroid will survive its journey through the atmosphere and land on the Earth’s surface. These pieces are known as meteorites.

Why is our solar system called a solar system?

There are many planetary systems like ours in the universe, with planets orbiting a host star. Our planetary system is named the "solar system" because our Sun is named Sol, after the Latin word for Sun, "solis," and anything related to the Sun we call "solar."

Which planet rains diamonds?

Neptune

What was Hailey's Comet?

Halley’s comet is the most well known comet

because it can be seen by the naked eye every 75 to 76

years. It was last seen on Earth in 1986 and will be visible in

2061 again when it appears in the inner solar system.
