What is your science teacher's name?

Who is Mrs Morse!

100

What is the only planet in the solar system that has an atmosphere that allows humans to breathe?

What the Earth!

100

True or False: There is a chance that the planets could run into each other because they aren't that far apart from each other.

What is False! There is actually quite a bit of space in between the planets which means it isn't likely that they would run into each other.

100

True or False: There are multiple stars in our solar system.

What is False! There is just one - the Sun! All of the other stars are beyond our solar system.

100

What is the invisible force that causes you to fall back to the ground when you jump?

What is gravity!

200

Where can you find what was missed in class on a day that you were absent?

What is the Daily Overview page!

200
We have organized planets into two different categories based on what they are made out of.  What are those two categories?

What are solid or gas planets.

200

True or False: The order of the planets are in order based on their size (the smaller the planet, the closer it is to the sun, the larger the planet, the farther away it is).

False!  There are smaller planets close to the Sun and large planets farther away, but they aren't in order from smallest to largest.

200

True or False: The Sun is the largest star in the Universe.

What is False!  There are many stars that are larger than the Sun, but they are much farther away!

200
Where specifically does gravity pull everything on Earth?

What is toward the center of the Earth! - The answer down is incorrect.

300

True or False: You should use the 5 minute passing period time to use the bathroom, get things from your classroom or locker, and chat with your friends.

What is false!  Stick to what you should be doing in between classes - not socializing with your friends.

300

What are two ways that we can measure objects in space that are too far to measure with miles or kilometers?

What are light years and Astronomical Units.

300

True or False: The planets have the same amount of distance between them.

What is False!  All of the planets have a different distances between them and the planets that come before and after them.
300

Explain in your own words why stars in the night sky look so small in comparison to the Sun.

The stars in the sky look so small in the sky because they are much farther away from us than the Sun.

300

Fill in the blank: The larger the planet, the ___________ gravity it has.

What is more!
400

What were the names of the subs who took amazing care of you over the last two weeks!

Who are Mrs Ashbeck and Mrs Ellis!

400

Explain the difference between what it means to rotate versus revolve.

To revolve means to move or orbit. To rotate means to spin.

400

Someone at your lunch table believes that the Sun and Moon are the same size because they are the same size in the sky. What would your kind scientific response be back to them?

You could kindly tell them that the moon is actually a lot smaller than the Sun but because the moon is much closer to us, it appears to be the same size as the Sun.

400

True or False: Constellations are shapes in the night sky that you can see from anywhere in the solar system.

What is False!  It is just from our perspective (the Earth) that we are able to see the shapes that those stars create. If you were looking at those stars from anywhere else in the solar system, the stars would not make that shape.

400

Explain what the Milky Way Galaxy orbits around AND why. - must have both to get points!

MUST HAVE BOTH:

- The Milky Way Galaxy orbits around a black hole.

- It orbits around a black hole because the black holl has more mass than everything else in the galaxy which means it has more gravity.

500

Without looking, what are the 5 expectations that you are working on each day to get Bingo numbers?

- eyes and ears on teacher 5 seconds after chime

- spreading positivity & encouragement

- clean classroom

- all attention on the speaker (no side conversations or messing with things at your seat)

- transition quietly (whisper or silent)

500

Write out the order of the planets from closest to the sun to farthest away from the sun (with correct spelling).

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

500

Explain why we aren't able to accurately draw a model of the solar system on a piece of paper.

We aren't able to model the solar system on a piece of paper because to scale the solar system down to where it could all fit on a piece of paper, the planets would be too small to see!

500

Explain the difference between a 2D and a 3D model of a constellation - AND which model is scientifically correct?

A 2D model has all of the stars on a flat surface and they are all the same distance from Earth. A 3D model has all the stars at different distances from Earth and you can only see the constellation from one angle.  The 3D model is scientifically accurate.

500

Explain the correlation between gravity, revolution speed, and distance.

(Ex: Planets closer to the sun, how much gravity do they feel & how does this impact their revolution speed in comparison to planets farther away from the sun?)

Planets closer to the sun feel MORE of the Sun's gravity than planets farther away. This causes their revolution speed to be FASTER than the planets farther away.
