How does the special education teacher contribute to annual report meetings?

Come to the meeting prepared to discuss how the student performed in your class. Bring data on student performance, how the student compared to others in the class, and successful instructional strategies, as well as recommendations for accommodations and modifications. Also come prepared to discuss recommendations for improvement in services for the next year based on your observations and data. You may also need to advocate for more or fewer services, and also discuss how the student is viewed socially.

What are the 5 rules for disciplining students with disabilities?

1. Students with disabilities CAN be disciplined for breaking school rules 

2. The school may call the police if the student brings a weapon or drugs to school 

3. Students with disabilities can not be expelled-- even if they bring a weapon to school 

4.  If a student engages in behaviors that could harm another student or to others, The district should work with the student incorporating IEP goals and objectives. The district may consider implementing a Behavior intervention plan (BIP)

5. If the student has been suspended frequently: the district should hold an IEP meeting, develop a program/plan, or alter the students supports

Become interested in their activities, ask them about their fashion preferences and things going on at home and with friends, and talk to them about their extracurricular activities. Also watching for signs of problems such as not eating, bruising, or dramatic changes in behavior.
