A common disease certain ones have been spreading in Southern Illinois is alpha gal syndrome, which creates an allergy to red meat, dairy products, and other related products.

The name of this cryptid literally mean "goat-sucker," which is quite fitting since it is known to attack and drink the blood of livestock. Some people say it looks reptilian, while others describe it having the looks of a mangy dog. Sightings have been in Mexico and the southern parts of the United States.
