Power dynamics aren't always the same--they change like how money changes hands at a store's checkout! Sometimes people/groups/etc. gain power, other times they give it up or trade it in.

What makes a negative stereotype easier to call out than a positive one?

Negative stereotypes make broad generalizations about people in a demeaning or degrading way (ex: people from NJ can't drive). 

Positive stereotypes, on the other hand, still overlook individual differences but in a way the "praises" someone's identity (ex: Asian people are good at math).
