Kissing the Blarney Stone is difficult because you must lie on your back and lean backward, nearly upside down, into a narrow gap at the top of Blarney Castle to reach the stone. The stone is set into the parapet wall 85 feet above the ground, requiring visitors to trust handrails and staff while dangling over a drop.
