Gently falling snow can be beautiful. When a mild snowfall turns into a blizzard, however, it becomes a dangerous storm. A blizzard is a long-lasting, severe snowstorm. It also has very strong winds. To be called a blizzard, the storm must have three qualities. First, the wind must be moving at least 35 miles per hour. Second, you can only see things less than a quarter-mile away. Finally, the storm must last for at least three hours.
