1st person is told through "I/we" 2nd person is told through "you" 3rd person is told through "he/she/they/names" 3rd person limited only shows us the thoughts of one person, and 3rd person omniscient shows us the thoughts of everyone in the story.

There are metaphors, similes, personification, alliteration, allusion, idioms, hyperboles and onomatopoeias! These can also be found in prose and drama.

What is a cast of characters?
The cast of characters is the list of who appears in the drama. It usually gives a short description of what they look like or what character traits they have.

Remember PIE -- persuade, inform, and entertain. Prose can have all three, while poetry and drama usually are only for entertaining! Remember that sometimes there can be more than one author's purpose. A story may give us information and entertain us at the same time.

What is sensory language (or imagery) and why is it important?
Sensory language/Imagery is when a poet uses language to make us see/feel/hear/taste/smell what is happening in the poem. It makes the poem much more interesting and gives it life!

What are stage directions?
Stage directions are words that are it ITALICIZED (slanted) and in BRACKETS [ ] that tell us what the actors are doing or what expressions they are making. It also sometimes tells us the setting.

Some examples: drama is mostly dialogue, while prose and poetry are usually not. Drama is divided into scenes while prose is divided into chapters and poetry is divided into stanzas.

What is character development and character motivation?
Character development shows us how a character changes during a story. They can be good changes or bad changes. Character motivation is what makes a character act a certain way. For example: a character might be mean because they are jealous of someone else, or because their family is mean to them.
