What are four responsibilities of the Student Ambassador? 


Answer: 

1.Assist with the development and implementation of programs, workshops and services to enhance awareness, appreciation and understanding of diversity such as Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Hispanic/Latino Annual Ball, Chinese New Year Celebration and the Annual Heritage Ball, International Film Series, Social Justice Retreat, Lectures, and sponsors outreach programs with other schools. 

2. Assist with answering the telephones, faxing, filing, running errands on campus, making copies, and posting flyers 

3. Responsible for developing and implementing one program a semester that falls in line with the mission and vision of the center. 

4.Responsible for office coverage. 

5. Provide individual and group assistance and information for students, faculty, and staff who visit the MCC. 

6. Responsible for welcoming all guests to the MCC, maintain and monitor the sign-in log. 

7. Responsible for answering the telephone, and assist with filing, deliveries, postings, handle routine request for information. Assist with the tours of the MCC. 

8. Responsible for assisting with set-up and breaking down of MCC programs and web-site up-dates. 

9. Represents MCC as promoter at table displays, distributing brochures, and generally proving information about the office and its programs. 

10. Must attend at least one unpaid program per semester. 

11. Assist with the return and exchange of books from the book library. 

12. Assist with the purging of the collection of books. 

13. Be familiar with the MCC upcoming events. 

14. Performs additional duties as assigned by the MCC Coordinator.

What is the signing in procedure?

All visitors must sign-in to the center when they enter the Multicultural Center. This is required and there are no exceptions due to the assessments at the end of the year.

The Multicultural Center provides learning opportunities that cultivate an inclusive educational environment where all students are successful and prepared for lifelong engagement in a global and multicultural society.

WHO ARE THE MULTICULTURAL FACULTY LIASIONS AND WHAT DO THEY DO? 


 Dr. Steven Hoffler and Dr. Brandon Hutchinson 

The Multicultural Faculty Liaison works closely with the Coordinator of the Multicultural Center assisting with programs and services to support the success of marginalized and underserved students. The MFL also assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of diversity and inclusion initiatives for students. In addition, the MFL will work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to promote diversity at SCSU and to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students, faculty and staff from varying backgrounds, races, ethnicities, cultures, religions, sexual identities, and socio-economic statuses. As an advocate for, and supports, students who self-identify as: African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latina/o, and/or Multiracial students, the MFL will assist with supporting the Multicultural organizations affiliated with the Multicultural Center as mentors and support entities for the students.

What are the steps to completing a returned book?

1. Get the person’s book loan form. 

2. All book loan forms must be filled out completely with student’s home address, and phone number. Please make sure all lines are filled in correctly. 

3. Place the form in alphabetical order in the binder.

5. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR MCC? 


1.The Multicultural Center also known as the MCC strives to promote cultural awareness and serve as a leader and advocate for diversity, social justice and inclusion for all. 

2. The MCC staff also works with the ethnic student clubs on campus to foster communication and share their interest and culture to the campus community. The MCC is a place where all people are welcomed; we educate, we celebrate, and we have fun. 

3.The MCC welcomes ALL students, faculty, staff and community members to our events while at the same time supporting and celebrating specific constituency groups (including African and African American, Asian and Asian American, American Indian/Indigenous, Hispanic/Latino, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Women, Men and Faith communities). We aim to enhance the Southern experience by fostering a more inclusive campus climate where everyone feels welcome, valued and respected.
