Swimming pool wristbands and what do each of the colors indicate?
There are three colors of wristbands: red, purple and blue. Red means they MUST have a
lifejacket on and be within arm’s reach of a leader. Purple means they did NOT pass the
swim test and need to wear a lifejacket in the deep pool. Blue means the camper does not
need a lifejacket.
What is the objective of Rule of 2?
A safe environment for all and decrease isolation.
• Significantly reduces the risk of an incident of abuse
• Protects against false accusations
• Reduces liability and a possible claim of negligence
• Offers additional help if there is an accident or emergency
It's late in the day, and you have 5 minutes until your shift is over. Many of the cleaning tasks still have not been completed, but you do not have time to finish them all.
What do you do?
Communicate the situation and reasoning to your supervisor. Notify your Team Leader, and overtime must be approved by your Supervisor. If it has not been approved, then overtime will not be paid.

Give an example of a minor and major injury. What is an example of an injury that does not need to be recorded.
Staff are responsible for recording all accidents/injuries and for restocking first aid supplies atthe end of each day. All injuries should be recorded, even just a band aid or ice pack.
How far can a camper go into the lagoon or lake?
Only up to their knee's.
Each day as part of your summer camp, you use the gym for games. The bathrooms available to use at the gym are located in the reception area. On this day, there are only two staff available and midway through the gym session a child is requesting to go to the bathroom. How could you handle this request while respecting the Rule of 2?
In this scenario as there is not enough staff to go to take the child to the bathroom individually it is possible to adjust your programming.

Think critically about the craft supplies you use. Are these expensive supplies, are these supplies that are used for specific activities, are these supplies the appropriate things to be taking out for this time of day?

The Rule of 2 consists of acknowledging three types of environments.
Open - An open environment is an environment that is not closed or concealed from others. Interactions should not take place behind closed doors or in secluded locations.
Observable - An observable environment is a space where others can see or take note of the interaction.
Justifiable - A justifiable environment is one that would appear normal for a participant and coach to be seen working together.
You are signing in campers and a parent is required to fill out forms, they have stated that they were emailed already. What do you do?
Direct them to our front desk as it is our policy to obtain those forms before campers enter our space and supervision.
Offer new blank forms to fill out or they can get it printed off at the front desk.
Rosters and forms are placed in the binder on Friday.

What are the eight bus rules?

The procedure for unauthorized pick-up?
- Contact the parent or guardian for confirmation.
- Do not leave child alone.
- This person may not leave with the child unless: parent or guardian has given verbal acceptance.
- Valid ID must still be presented after parent or guardian approval.
- Phone the supervisor, and if the situation escalates, phone proper authorities.
What to do if I have a sick camper?
When a child is feeling ill, they will be given a quiet area to rest and will remain under supervision until they feel better, or their parent/guardian picks them up. Team Leaders will phone parent/guardian to pick up if needed.
You are on an out trip and a camper is in a heightened state. They are now running away from the group and they are yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs.
- Notify Staff via walkie talkie
- One leader will follow the child, run if they are being unsafe and reckless or just follow behind if they are wanting space.
- Calm down, talk about it, reassure/listen, find a solution, use a teaching lesson, and fill out a Behavior Report form to follow up to parents.
Have your Team Leader explain the binder and how to fill out a timesheet. Have everyone fill out a timesheet and the newest member must explain the timesheet and pay periods.
Bonus: If a timesheet is not filled out on time, what do you do?

An extra 30 minutes is added to the hours worked, as staff are not paid for a lunch break.

There are three forms that required and surround camper information. What are these three forms and what are their purposes?

Waiver 2025 - Yearly, Liability Waiver is a legal document that a person who participates in an activity may sign to acknowledge the risks involved in their participation.
Participant Information - Yearly, Camper information and agreement to code of conduct.
Administer Medication - If medication is needed, the approval to administer medication during camp hours.
Code of Conduct - An agreement that the participant will follow our code of conduct and failure to do so will result in consequences.
What is the Behavior Management and Discipline Policy?
Behavior Report - To be completed when there are any unacceptable behaviors that require follow up.
Time to Think - Requires one or more behaviour sheets to be filled out first.
What is the swim test? Who can lead a swim test?
This swim test will be done for the width of the pool that they are swimming in. They must swim from wall to wall without touching the bottom or side of the pool and without stopping and their head must be underwater. They must tread water without touching the bottom or side for 30 seconds consistently. Team Leaders are responsible for leading and updating the list Swim Test list weekly.
