Unlike my fellow states of matter, my shape stays the same no matter where you put me. Put me in a bucket? I still keep my shape. Move me to your desk? STILL the same shape! I also take up a certain amount of space. Some people refer to me as having both a definite volume and shape. My particles do not have much space between them and often look like they are in neat rows and columns (like an array), so they can hardly move around.

I change shape easily to take the shape of whatever I am in. I take up a certain amount of space that does not change when I am moved to a new place. For example, if there is 4 ounces of me in a mug then there will still be 4 ounces of me when you move me into a vase.
