Due to the Fugitive Slave Act, all citizens were required to help return fugitive slaves to their owners (even if they were a free state). So, Glover went to Canada where he was left alone.
Why were Cordelia Harvey and Lucius Fairchild important people during the Civil War?
Cordelia Harvey was known as the "Wisconsin Angel." She visited the wounded soldiers and petitioned for more hospitals. Lucius Fairchild fought in the second Wisconsin Regiment and served as commander at the Battle of Gettysburg.
