True or false, are the lockers big enough to fit students?

False! The lockers are too small for most to fit into. The kids also will not shove you in like in the movies

Are sports more competitive than elementary?

Yes! Elementary has a few exhibition games and then a tournament while high school there are still a few exhibitions but after that there are multiple tournaments like district 10, CWOSSA and OFSAA. OFSAA is best of Ontario so get your training in!

Where do we eat lunch?

We have a pretty big cafeteria where quite a few people will eat. We also have a hall called the phat hall where students are always sitting with friends and eating. There is also the drama room where Mrs. Sanvido will have her door open. Outside of the school, we have the entire plaza across the street from grange like victoria's pizza, infamous eatery etc...

What are the class levels?

There is 3 levels for classes. Those are applied, academic and locally developed. This is for classes like english, math, science etc... The other is open which would be courses like phys ed and arts and religion.

How many kitchens do we have?

2 kitchens! One in the cafeteria and the other in the foods/nutritions classroom

False!! The teachers care very much about everything. The teachers always want what is best for you, this is also why we have a guidance office.

Is it easy to be part of clubs?

Yes! there are many great clubs you can be apart of. An example is the social justice club. If you would like to join clubs, info could be found in flyers on walls, on the announcements and teachers can mention them. Keep your eyes and earsn open!

Where is the library?

The library is at the end of the hall to the right of the front office. There are a lot of tables and desks to read at as well as a bunch of desktops and chromebooks. For access to the chromebooks you will have to talk to our amazing librarian, Mrs. Parker

Will we have to do Math all through high school?

You will have to do math from grades 9-11 but not in your graduating year. It is still suggested though unless you're dream job would not include math.

How many sets of doubles are in our school?

There are 13 sets of doubles! Some of them are the 2 gyms, 2 cafeterias, 2 fields, @ schools (here & t. Johns) 2 Mr. Anstetts and then there is also 2 of us presenting right now. St James is like a buy 1 get 1 free deal

true or false: it is very easy to get lost 

False! Our school is not too big to get lost in but if you do on your first days, there is our cub crew who will help you find your classes. We also have maps of the school.

Is it easy to make all teams?

Sadly no, there will be some teams that can be a little harder to make but the track and field and cross country team is a very inclusive team as we allow everyone to join.

True or false: St. James has 2 gyms

True! One gym is used for mostly games and regular gym classes and is located in the Phat hall. During lunch you can also come there and play around.

Our 2nd gym is in the math hall at the other side of the school called the fitness centre. Gym classes do most of the workouts there

Do we have to do French all through high school?

Nope! You will have to do it in only grade 9 and then after that it is your choice. The teachers you would most likely have would be either Mr. A. Anstett (there are 2 of them) or you would have Madame Costa.

Does St. James have their own tv station?

We have our own tv station called J-Channel where we do our announcements and other important things.

true or false: Hall monitors will check you for hall passes

False! We do not need hall passes. But, at lunch there are certain areas you are not allowed to eat around and they will block that area (easy to move past them)

Are you forced to do track like in elementary?

No. It is now your choice. As a member of the track team I do recommend it not just because of how fun it is but because this can help you out with other sports. There is also more events to do. Newer events include javelin and discuss, the 3000M, 2000M steeplechase, hurdles, high jump and pole vault.

Are there computer labs?

Yes! upstairs in room 202 and 203 are the computer lab rooms. There is also room 212 which is used for comm tech and media arts courses. There are also the computers in the learning commons AKA the library

Do we have to do gym or art all through?

Nope! But you need at least 1 credit from both courses to graduate. I do suggest doing phys. Ed in grade 9 and all through because it is a very fun course and you learn a lot. You would have great teachers like Mr. Glaab, Mr. Kaufman, Mrs. Allerie and Mr. D. Anstett.

False! the cafeteria has some pretty good food that you can buy. There are also nearby places where you can get food.

True! Sorry kids, You gotta sit on the floor still. But it is not painful.

Can we instantly be part of student council?

When you start high school there is only 1 position the student council could give, this is the junior rep position. When you're in grades 10, 11 and 12 there is more positions like art council, athletic council and environmental council.

Where are the guidance offices?

The guidance offices are in the hallway to the left of the front office right beside the resource room. You can book appointments there and see some of our amazing guidance counsellors like Mrs. Burns and Mr. Malone.

Do we get to choose all our classes?

Not exactly. There are courses that you would have to take. But for the most part, you are able to choose your courses

Who is the school mascot

it is roary the lion! You can always spot roary at pep rallys, sports games, and sometimes he will wander around the school.
