e.) Clavicle (Collarbone)

The clavicle - or collarbone - rests between the upper ribcage and the scapula (shoulder blade) and attaches the arm to the body. It's prominent position - coupled with its long, slender shape - means it is one of the most common bones to break.

Fractured clavicles commonly occur in sports where players aren't wearing any type of body-protection or padding. Car accidents also frequently lead to clavicle fractures, as a result of impact with either the seatbelt, steering wheel or from bracing against the dashboard with extended arms.

e.) Frozen Food

e.) Frozen Food

Clarence Birdseye was once a worker in the Arctic in Canada and mingled with the Inuit. He observed how they preserved their foods in barrels of water which froze rapidly because of the frigid weather.

When the Inuit would later need the foods, they always appeared and tasted fresher than the ones sold in their native land.

Birdseye concluded that the process of rapid freezing helped keep the foods in extremely low temperatures so they could retain their freshness.

After he returned to the US, Birdseye started his business with $7 which he used to rent an electric fan and buy ice. He packed the foods into waxed cardboard boxes and applied flash freezing at high temperatures. This method worked well and made his newfound fortune.
