He was on the cover of a famous magazine in 1957. He met President Eisenhower just a year after. He was put in prison several times for peacefully speaking out for equal rights. He wrote a now famous letter from prison in 1963. That same year, he also gave his “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington D.C. Martin Luther King, Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
