What is the protagonist?
a speech in which a character is alone and reveals private thoughts. Sometimes it is spoken to the audience. Other times, the character is speaking only to himself or herself.
What is a soliloquy?
the main character, or protagonist, tries to solve the conflict, but faces obstacles that prevent an easy solution.
What is rising action?
a long, uninterrupted speech spoken by one character to another

The Act where the character, setting and conflict are introduced in the exposition

Introduces everything you need to know for the rest of the story to make sense.

insights about human life and human nature
What are themes?

The climax, or highest point of interest, represents a turning point in the drama. During the falling action, the plot moves toward the resolution of the conflict.

a comment made by a character to the audience. It is not meant to be heard by the other characters.
What is an aside?
characters who resemble real people. They are involved in complicated relationships. These characters change as a play progresses.
What are complex characters?
