The Sith species were a humanoid red skinned people native to Korriban and had a predisposition towards the dark side of the force both culturally and religiously. They predate both the Jedi and Sith Order by millenia. The Sith order however (approximately 7000 BBY) started off as a group of broken off Dark Jedi lead by Ajunta Pall who desired immortality, the Jedi thought them greedy and abusive and after a war between them got exiled to Korriban, there the Sith species met the Dark Jedi, intrigued and fascinated by their powers they worshipped the Dark Jedi and after centuries of co-operation and inbreeding the Sith species died out and the Sith Order was born.
