How should you hold a knife when transporting it?
Point down, firm grip on the handle, at your side. You should also call out if you are near someone who might not see the knife and when going around corners.
Where can you keep a beverage cup during your shift?
Cups should never be in or around the venues, including the host stands. Drink breaks may be taken during your shift by notifying your full timer, walking directly to the beverage machine, dispensing a drink to be consumed on your way to dropping your cup off on the tray return, then immediately returning to your venue. :)
What bin do blue gloves get recycled in?
They don't get recycled, always in the TRASH!
(If you see one where it doesn't belong, please remove it and put it in the trash)
Where should you go in case of a tornado?
The hallway in the basement.
What time does each venue close at the end of each meal?
10 Minutes after meal time
When should you wear a cut glove?
Any time you are using a blade.
This includes when using slicing and dicing equipment as well as knives. Always wear a cut glove when carving!
What is the most important way to prevent food-borne illness?
Proper hand washing!

How full should food waste containers be filled?
Up to the line where the container starts to curve outward.
Where should personal items be stored when you are hosting?
In the employee locker room downstairs or in one of the offices upstairs.
Personal items such as purses, backpacks, beverages and textbooks are not allowed at the host stands.
What items are allowed on a paid 15 minute break?
A piece of whole fruit OR
A dessert item (or a couple cookies, not 5) OR
A Bagel or Pastry (ie. donut, danish etc...)
For any other items you must be clocked out.

What should you do if you, or someone working with you, has been vomiting?
Let a manager know immediately!
Anyone displaying mandatory reporting symptoms MUST report their illness and leave work immediately. Vomiting and diarrhea require you to be out of the work area at least 48 hours after symptoms have subsided.

What type of pants are required for a proper work uniform? Why?
Black Dress Pants, For your safety (avoid burns from spills).
(No Yoga pants, Leggings, Sweatpants, Capris, Smart Pants etc...) If you don't own black dress pants, please take some time this week or next to go purchase some!
What should you do if someone has a question about an allergen?
Call over a chef or manager on the radio
Direct the guest to the posted allergen sign (or nutrition label if applicable)
Contact your full timer to check the recipe

When is it ok to use your cell phone at work?
On your break.
It is never ok to charge your cell phone in a venue due to contamination of food prep and storage areas.
What do you need to do to glass bottles before recycling?
Remove any plastic or metal rings or lids, rinse out to remove all food contaminants, place in the glass recycling bin on the back dock.
The glass recycling bin should never have a plastic liner in it! Do NOT bag glass items!
