What is required for a person to drive the Primrose bus?

What is - All drivers are required to successfully complete all state-required training and a written and road test through Primrose. Directors are responsible for completing the paperwork and placing it in their files.  They must be 21 years old.

What is - Load and unload children at the curbside of the vehicle or in a protected parking area or driveway. Supervise children getting in or out of the vehicle to avoid injury.

Who should check our buses on an annual basis?

What is - by an automotive service excellence (ASE) certified mechanic, federal motor carrier safety administration (FMCSA) safety inspector, or the Ohio state highway patrol.

How should you supervise restroom visits?

What is - 

Staff members must: Enter the restroom and verify there is no one in the restroom before a child enters.  Position themselves at all entrances of the restroom to provide adequate supervision and be able to speak to the children from the door.  Allow boys and girls to use restroom facilities designated for their gender, while keeping children under their supervision and maintaining appropriate staff/child ratios.  In situations where a female or male staff member cannot accompany opposite gender children into the restroom, children should wait until the restroom is vacant.  Ask strangers who try to enter the restroom to wait and not enter until the children are out. Check on any child who doesn’t exit promptly. Take the entire group, never leave children behind. Use the Field Trip Restroom Checklist to mark each child off as he or she exits the restroom, and another check off once all children arrive back to their seats or destination.

What is - A binder with DCY 4 sheeter, Primrose emergency transportation form, permission slip, MPCP.

Attendance list, Restroom checklist, Directions to field trip, working cell phone, first aid kit, any medications and sunscreen.

How often should you apply sunscreen and hydrate?
What is - 30 minutes prior to outdoor activity, every 2 hours unless in water then its suggested every hour for sunscreen.  Hydration rule just states the water must be accesible to students at all times.

What is -1. By the director upon departure from the school.2. By the field trip leader when loading and unloading the vehicle. 3. By the field trip leader every fifteen (15) minutes during the trip.4. By the director upon arrival at the school.

What do you do if you have a missing child on a field trip?

1. Assemble children and call roll to identify missing child[ren].

2. Contact 911 and onsite security.

3. Notify SERT at school with important details.

4. Contact missing child’s parents to relay details of situation [SERT Team Leader].

5. Coordinate search for missing child with field trip site staff.

6. Maintain Primrose child/staff ratios at all times to ensure safety of the group.

7. Contact your School Business Consultant/New School Support Coach [refer to Primrose National Support Center Emergency Contact list] with event details. The SBC will work with the PSFC Issues Response Team if it is necessary to prepare a response to media and parent inquiries regarding the emergency situation.

8. Contact state licensing as required.

9. Follow Primrose Schools established guidelines in dealing with the media [SERT Media Spokesperson and SERT Family and Staff Communications Spokesperson].

10. Contact parents according to the procedures outlined in the Family Emergency Communications Procedures [Designated Family and Staff Communications Spokesperson].

11. Follow-up with your School Business Consultant/New School Support Coach [refer to National Support Center Emergency Contacts list] with emergency event details
