The Hidden Room
I had always heard stories about the old house at the end of my street. People said it had been empty for years, but every night, I could see a faint light glowing in one of its upstairs windows.
One rainy afternoon, I finally decided to investigate.
I pushed open the creaky front door and stepped inside. The house smelled like dust and old wood. Thunder rumbled outside, and I suddenly wished I had brought a flashlight.
As I walked through the hallway, I noticed something strange. One of the pictures hanging on the wall was crooked. I reached out to straighten it, but the picture moved. Behind it was a small wooden button.
My heart began pounding.
I pressed the button.
Click!
A section of the wall slowly opened.
I stared into the darkness. There was a narrow staircase leading down.
I took a deep breath and walked down the steps. At the bottom, I discovered a hidden room filled with dusty books, old photographs, and mysterious boxes. In the center of the room was a small wooden desk.
On the desk was a note.
I picked it up and read the words:
“If you found this room, the mystery is yours to solve.”
I looked around nervously.
Then I heard footsteps above me.
I froze.
Someone else was inside the house.
I quickly grabbed the note and ran up the stairs. As I reached the hallway, the footsteps suddenly stopped.
I looked toward the front door.
It was wide open.
I ran outside as fast as I could. Even after I reached home, I couldn't stop thinking about the hidden room.
Who had written the note?
And, more importantly, what other secrets were hiding inside that spooky house?
