What is a relapse?

The first type happens when mental illness symptoms return and interfere with people's ability to function, such as in taking care of themselves, doing their job, or having social relationships. The second type of relapse happens when persistent mental illness symptoms become worse and get in the way of people's functioning.

Give an example of how one would cope with anxious thoughts other than medication.

Building a tolerance to the anxious situation. For example the book gave. Slowly building up confidence like if I am scared of driving on the highway. Slowly building up. Driving first on highway when there is no traffic, and then slowly building up to driving when you would usually be on the road. Or if swimming makes me nervous slowly building up skills that relate to that.

services are provided in a hospital or hospital-like setting, and include detox as well as individual and group work focused on developing sobriety. They provide daily programming, and they give individuals time to develop new attitudes and skills in a substance-free environment.
