The back of the bus is the best spot for our camps.

When should you write an incident report?
If you have to open a first aid kit, you should write an incident report.
When should you be doing headcounts?
Any time you leave/enter a room, you should do a headcount.
What's one thing you need to remember when bussing to a beach/lake?
Make sure the campers are wearing clothing over their swimsuits.
How often should kids be re-applying sunscreen if they are swimming?
You find out that one of the kids forgot their swimsuit at home! What can you do to make sure they still have fun?
Call home and ask if someone can bring one. If they have a change of clothes, swim in that.
After coming in from outside, you find a tick embedded in a camper's arm! What should you do?
Call home BEFORE removal. If you have permission, remove using kit and place in baggy labeled w/time and location.
While checking over the playground, you find a needle on the ground a few feet away from a trash can. What should you do?
DO NOT TOUCH. Flag the area w/pylons, tell campers to stay away, call 311 for disposal.
When boarding a crowded bus, you find that the only seat left for one of your campers is beside a stranger. How can you make this situation safer?
Keep a leader close by, listen and monitor conversation, move kid as soon as a seat becomes available.
What UV score is too high for the campers to be outside?

One of your campers asks for a life jacket, but you find there are none left at the pool. What are some things you can do instead?
Ask lifeguards for possible extras, use pool noodle/flutter board/boat, keep a leader close by them, keep them in the shallow end...
One of your campers has started throwing up during the program. What should your course of action be?
Bring them to bathroom/garbage, call home for pick up, find janitor to clean mess, and keep the kid's feelings in mind.
You're planning a trip to the museum, but you realize you have a kid that likes to run away joining you. How do you make this trip safer?
Bring extra leaders, have a leader do one on one, review rules before trip, talk to parents if necessary.
Tell other leaders/kids it's time to get off, let the bus driver know about the interactions, take note of the time, where they were sitting, what this person looked like, file incident report as soon as possible.
You're going on a trip to the oval, and you know it's going to be a very hot day. What can you do to be sun safe?
Bring extra water bottles/ice packs, find a shady spot, encourage kids to take breaks, re-apply sunscreen more often, ask about bringing tents.
In the middle of swim at the pool you realize you haven't seen one of your campers in a while. You scan the pool and can't find them. What are some things you should do immediately?
Discuss w/other leaders (maybe someone took them to the washroom), let lifeguards know w/a description of the child.
One of the kids falls and hits their head. There is no bleeding or bump, but they tell you they feel dizzy. What should you do?
