Everyone has access to God's power on earth through his priesthood. Regarless of directly holding the preisthood. Those that hold the priesthood can bless the lives of others by worthily using this power to bless, heal, or perform preisthood ordinances.

Jesus Christ is the best example of teaching. He used the books containing a collection of stories from history to teach His gospel. Latter-day prophets have instructed us that there is no substitute for these.To teach from these books we must study them for ourselves. Then we can share these historical stories and examples and help those we teach liken the examples to themselves.

During His earthly ministry, the Savior often taught in parables to represent eternal truths symbolically. He has directed that we be taught in a similar way in the temple. There is symbolism in the temple ordinances and covenants, their presentation, the physical setting, and the clothing worn. If you ponder the meaning of these symbols with the guidance of the Holy Ghost, they can help you recognize truth, learn about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and grow spiritually.

Heavenly Father's plan of happiness enables family relationships to continue throughout eternity. Through family history work, we can learn more about our ancestors, identify and prepare the names of those who need gospel ordinances, and perform ordinance work for them in holy temples. The Church provides many resources to help us learn about our family history and participate in temple work for the dead.

Why is it important to learn about my family history?

The Lord said made promises for following his commandments: "if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God" (D&C 14:7).

"I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise" (D&C 82:10).

In gospel learning, as in all things, Jesus Christ is our perfect example. Because He was perfectly obedient and submissive to His Father, He "increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." Just as the Savior received  "grace for "grace", we must patiently seek light and knowledge from God in our efforts to learn the gospel.

In D&C 100: 5-8 the Lord said, lift up your voice, I will give you the words you need to speak. I promise that if you do these things the "the Holy Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say."
