Can I stay up and watch TV in the living room? 

Quiet time/Lights out is at 11pm Sunday-Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. The living room and the kitchen close at these times.

Fridge Space 

Each resident has an allotted area in the fridge for which to keep their items. This area should be cleaned out weekly BEFORE attending your store run. Be mindful of your space when purchasing items at the grocery store.

How often are phase reports completed?

Phase reports are due weekly and are provided by your counselor.

Tell me about the house phone. 

The house phone can be used while on orientation with staff permission. This phone should be utilized to connect with your family, sponsor, recovery coach, etc. and calls should be 10 minutes-no longer than 15.

My friend in the house needs cigarettes and I am able to buy her a pack?

Don't. No resident is permitted to buy other residents items or exchange money (in any form)

What should be done before morning check-in?

You should be receiving your medications between 5am-8am. 

You are to have your room cleaned and bed made, chore completed, and personal hygiene attended to before morning check-in at 9am.

Non-perishable food 

Non-perishable personal food items should be kept in patient food bins provided by the program. These should be cleaned out weekly BEFORE your scheduled store run. Please be mindful of the space you have while shopping.

What is the purpose of the orientation phase?

The purpose of the orientation phase is to welcome new residents and give them time to adjust to their surroundings. Orientation is for two weeks- the decision to phase up will be determined by the treatment team.

On Phase 1, what time should cellphones be turned in? 

Sunday-Thursday 8:30pm 

Friday and Saturday: 11:00pm

I'm tired and want to lay down in the living room?

Your bed is the only furniture you are permitted to lie down on. Feet are not permitted on any other household furniture.

Passes 

On phase 1 you are eligible for a 4 hour pass on Saturday or Sunday between 12:45 and 4:45 

On phase 2 you are eligible for overnight passes.

Can I use the oven? 

No, residents are not permitted to use the oven. However, you have access to portable burners, an air fryer, microwave, and toaster. Please be considerate of others and clean these items after each use.

What is the purpose of Phase 1?

To work on personal treatment goals in a structured environment supportive of recovery. This is an excellent time to network at meetings and begin to build a sober community!

If I do not turn in my cellphone, what will actually happen?

Initially, your counselor will have a discussion with you. If it continues you could be subject to a focus point, behavior contract, loss of cellphone privilege, or a phase regression.

I need to be excused from group.

If you must be excused from group or other obligations the following staff members are authorized to do so: Counselor, Clinical Director, Nurse, Nurse practitioner, or Program Director.

What is a focus point?

A focus point may be issued when program expectations are not met. This will be followed with a conversation facilitated by your counselor to identify positive solutions. Focus points are active for 7 days- 3 focus points in one week may result in a behavioral agreement.

Can I keep food in my room?

You are only permitted to keep water, seltzer, and hard candy/mints in your room.

What is the purpose of Phase 2?

To prepare for a lower level of care, independent living, or reintegration back into your previous arranged living environment.

Can I Facetime my family?

Absolutely, EXCEPT in the milieu. Please respect the privacy of your peers and video chat in a quiet place away from the other residents.

I want to buy a bookshelf for my room. 

No outside furniture is permitted to brought in or purchased. 

The only person who can approve furniture is the program director. (She will probably say no too, but shoot your shot, girl.)

What is a behavioral contract?

After receiving three focus points a behavioral agreement will be made. This will outline specific expectations and consequences for future violation. This will require the resident's signature of acknowledgement of receipt. A behavioral agreement usually lasts 30 days but is up to the discretion of the treatment team.

I met someone. 

I may be in love (or very strong like)

New relationships are strongly discouraged in the first year of recovery. 

Relationships between patients of any GAAMHA programs are prohibited.
