There is a rule of superlative adjectives, which do not follow the rules, and take their own form. Say 2 irregular adjectives and respective transformations

Good= The Best

Bad= The Worst

Old = The Eldest              

Far = The Furthest

For adjectives ending in “Y” we eliminate “Y”  and we add “iest” at the end.
