Staff that provides information and support to families in understanding and navigating the education system

A strategy when a student tell you that they aren’t completing their homework because they often feel depleted and lack motivation to do anything.
Express empathy for the student, warm introduction to support team member, support team referral
These documents are used during meetings held to discuss student needs and is required for a tier 2 referral.
What are the KidsTalk & SIT Referral documents?
Staff member that provides mental health counseling to students who have been identified because of learning and behavior concerns impeding their learning.
Who is Mr. O'Donnell? or What is the School Psychologist?
A strategy when a student communicates having a basic need to you (food, clothing, housing, etc). Name this intervention strategy.
Complete support team referral (if they have enough for 48 hours) and/or report need to Ms. Bustamante (so need can be met with FRC inventory)
Student homelessness, pregnancy, clothing need, family, etc
What is a tier 1 referral reason?
Staff member that interacts with all stakeholder groups in order to create programs and supports that meet the needs of the school community.
Who is Ms. Bustamante? or What is the Community School Coordinator?
A strategy when a student reports that they were abused by their parent and you see bruising on his/her arms while you all are talking that align with what the student reports.
A student who is pregnant is eligible for home and hospital planning. This person submits the required application on behalf of the student.
Who is the professional school counselor?
Staff that is point person to assist students who need emotional and behavioral supports
Who is Ms. Ballinger? What is the School Social Worker?
Your students is not attending school because he/she says there is no point because they don't have any options after high school. This strategy is an appropriate response.
Share resources and information for college for documented/undocumented students, refer to the PSC, provide positive feedback and encouragement to student
This situation should be directly communicated to a crisis team member and is NOT a referral.
What is a suicidal ideation? What is self-harm?
This person can provide counseling to students who are not motivated to graduate.
What is the PSC? What is the School Social Worker?
A strategy when a student reports being pregnant and she plans to keep it but does not want to tell anyone.
Express empathy for desired confidentiality; Express finding the best resource for the student in the building in a timely manner; share potential next steps; identify appropriate staff that should be informed
