أَنذِرْ/ نَذِيرٌۭ

دَعَوْتُهُمْ
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا
saying, ‘Seek your Lord’s forgiveness, ˹for˺ He is truly Most Forgiving.
What was the punishment for the people of Nuh who refused to believe?
Flood/ drowned
خَلَقَكُمْ
created you.

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا
Do you not see how Allah created seven heavens, one above the other,?
Who from Prophet Nuh's family refused to get on the Ark?
His son - got on a mountain
وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
And they were arrogant.
جِهَارًۭا

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
when He truly created you in stages ˹of development
Why was it surprising to people that Nuḥ was building an ark?
They lived in a place where it didn’t rain enough to need a huge ship, and there was no ocean, sea, or large river nearby.
أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى
a specified term
وَأَطِيعُونِ
and obey
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا
And whenever I invite them to be forgiven by You, they press their fingers into their ears, cover themselves with their clothes, persist ˹in denial˺, and act very arrogantly.
