When can patrons dive into the lap pool? 

Never! It is a no-diving pool. Foot-first entries only.

Do we supply goggles for patron use?

No. Any goggles found on deck are to be brought to the membership desk for lost and found.

What equipment is permitted in the hot-tub and sauna?

None

What "banned' equipment is allowed only during a lane swim?

Snorkles and fins (flippers)

What does the wrist-band colour system indicate?

Green: 7+ Passed Lap Pool Swim Test

Yellow: 7+ Passed Leisure Pool Swim Test

Red: Failed swim test. If child, must be within arm's reach. If adult, cannot use deep end.

Pink: Guardian responsible of staying within arm's reach of red wristband

Can patrons accessing the sauna from the gym keep their shoes on?

No outdoor footwear permitted on deck (this includes patrons coming onto deck to use the sauna).

Where can patrons use lifejackets?

Leisure pool or shallow end of lap pool. No PFDs in deep end (this includes adults and swimmers who have passed the swim test). No PFDS in hot-tub.

How old must you be to enter the sauna or hot-tub?

12 years of age or older

What do the patrons need to be doing to stay for the lane swim?

Must be continuously swimming back and forth in the appropriate paced lane. Lifeguard to direct to appropriate paced lane if more than 2 swimmers in the lane.

What are the requirements for the facility swim test?

Swim 2 widths of continuous front crawl in shallow water. Must demonstrate water comfort.

What is the mobile device policy?

Use of mobile devices strictly prohibited in the change room and in the pool area (this includes the sauna and hot-tub!) No photos/videos, no texting/calling, no music.

Can patrons bring items from home to use like inflatable tubes or balls?

No inflatable tubes, water guns, balls, throwing objects, sharp toys, etc. permitted.

Are swimmers younger than 12 permitted in the hot-tub or sauna? What are their restrictions?

Sauna - No! Hot-Tub - Must be accompanied by a person 16+ and be able to touch the bottom of the hot-tub with their head above the water level.

Why can't the water features be used in the leisure pool during an Aquafit/Hydrotherapy class?

The water features are an audible distraction.

What must happen before starting a swim test for a 7, 8, or 9 year old?

Guardian must be informed of potential outcomes. DO NOT begin the test until the guardian is on deck. If they pass – the guardian MUST REMAIN ON DECK. If they fail – take the swimmer out of the water. They may not re-enter until the guardian is in water within arm’s reach.

Where can patrons have a jump entry from?

Lap Jump Entries – Deep end wall only. Leisure Jump Entries  –Sides without ramp or bulkhead

What equipment is allowed during lessons, but not for other swims?

Turtle mats, balls, Aquafit weights + smileys

What is the capacity of the hot-tub?

Maximum of 12 patrons - this includes anyone sitting on the side!

How old must you be to attend either program?

Age Restriction: Must be 13 years of age or older. Youths 10, 11, and 12 years of age may enter with an adult. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 10 PERMITTED.

When should you swim test an adult?

Any point you feel necessary. Any weak swimmer in the deep-end. Any adult entering with a lifejacket and removing it for the deep end. Any swimmer holding onto the rope or another person. If they refuse a swim-test, the MUST stay in the shallow-end. If they refuse, call duty manager. Remember – your job is to prevent!

What is the policy on clothing being worn into the pool?

If wearing clothes, must be tight-fitting, athletic material. Must be DIFFERENT clothing than what they wore into the building with (i.e. brought with the intention of swimming in). No jeans, sweatpants, loose clothing, or underwear permitted.

Can you ever let patrons use equipment from home like inflatable tubes or balls?

It depends. If there is no one else in the pool and it is being used safetly - let them use it! Tell them of the rule and notify if other people come, they will need to put the equipment away.

What is the OFF and Pivot guard responsible for checking in the sauna? (3)

1) Lights On - For health and safety 

2) Check Patrons - Ensure no signs of heat exhaustion +  Inappropriate behaviour
3) Monitor Capacity - Check how many patrons are in the sauna (remember; they count in the bather load!)

How loud can the music be during either program?

Must be quiet enough to hear patrons speaking. Must be able to hear a whistle and any verbal communication from the guard team. LIFEGUARDS CAN TURN DOWN MUSIC OF AN INSTRUCTOR IF TOO LOUD!
