FALSE. Food does not have morality!

TRUE!

300

Name one DBT skill

Ex: Riding the wave, mindfulness, TIIP, opposite action, DEAR MAN

300
Why does FBT temporarily give caregivers more responsibility around food?

Because having an eating disorder can make it really hard to consistently give yourself enough food and choose foods that support recovery. Parents know preferences better than professionals. During and after treatment you are with your parents, not professionals!

300

Name one thing that can happen to a body when it doesn't get enough nutrition?

400

What is one reason a photo online might not show how someone really looks?

Lighting, angle, posing, make-up, filters, editing, clothing, or only posting certain pictures.

400

What is exposure therapy and why is it important?

It's when you face your fears and it's important for teaching your brain that you don't need to avoid when there isn't a real danger.

400

What is a goal weight + how is it set? (remember to not share specific numbers!)

It's the weight that is the BEST GUESS as to where a body needs to be after there has been weight loss. Doctors pick this based on the individuals growth history!

400
How long are meals in program and how long is snack? Why these times?

30 minutes + 15 minutes and because 1) we need a structure to keep the program day flowing and 2) this is a relatively "normal" time expected to complete a meal and snack. It's practice for real life!

400

Why might someone feel really bloated, nauseous, or full when they start eating more food and more regularly?

Digestion slows as a way to adapt to surviving during restriction and the GI system needs time to adjust to having more intake

500

What is one problem with comparing your body to someone elses?

Bodies are naturally different. We don't know what is happening inside of someone else's body or their life.

500

What is one process on the hexaflex (ACT)?

Acceptance, cognitive defusion, present-moment awareness, self-as-context, values, committed action.

OR:

Let it be, let it go, stay here, notice yourself, choose what matters, do what matters

500

Why do meals and snacks not immediately get smaller when someone has reached their goal weight?

Because the metabolic rate has increased, so the body now needs this amount to maintain current growth.

500

Name all of the disciplines on your treatment team.

Social worker, psychiatrist, doctor, nurse, behavioral health tech, child life specialist, dietitian, administrative staff, your parents, AND YOU!

500

Why does an adolescent in eating disorder treatment need more food than their friends (who aren't in treatment) and than an adult?

The body needs "extra" nutrition to repair from the effects of not having had enough/being in malnutrition, and adolescence is a time of growing and developing and there are more energy and nutrient needs
