Who is Francisco Alarcón?
This bilingual educator has over 30 years of classroom experience. She has led teacher collaborations via distance learning, including piloting a coaching/co-teaching model between the School of Math and Science and rural districts in NC lacking qualified teachers for high level math courses. Her focus on mathematical modeling inspired us on a past teacher trip in Ecuador.
Who is Maria Hernandez?
This Peace Corps volunteer currently serves as vice president of the Inter-American Committee on Mathematics Education and is a team-favorite for any project bridging language, culture, and mathematics education across the Americas. This T2TGlobal Board member lovingly refers to several of our team members as his granddaughters.
Who is Rick Scott?
This heavy hitter in the world of mathematics education has earned so many awards and fellowships that it's hard to keep up! In the field, we know and love her for her work around Learning Trajectories. We are excited by the interactive diagnostic assessment systems built on learning trajectories that she is currently designing, and find it interesting that she is connected to both of the states that our US-based team call home.
Who is Jere Confrey?
This creator of the first interactive science center in Ecuador works to pursue a true attitudinal change towards science and mathematics in all that she does. She has taught in the mathematics department at Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral in Guayaquil for nearly 40 years. There is a friendly rumor that a conversation with this friend of T2TGlobal spurred the original idea of Math Mobile.

This professor and author has extensive classroom experience and serves on the board of multiple organizations. She has traveled with us in Ecuador and gotten her students to write Global Math Stories. Her candor, practical advice for implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching, and work honoring African American Women Mathematicians made her episode of M4A arguably one of the most functional yet!
Who is Shelly Jones?
This NYC professor's experience working in the Middle East brings a fresh perspective to the work of T2TGlobal. He has traveled with us to both Ecuador and Guatemala, where his expertise on early childhood mathematics and teaching mathematics to speakers of other languages have proven to be strong matches to community needs.
Who is Hanna Haydar?
This founder of Same But Different Math is an avid proponent for equitable and powerful mathematics for all. Her work in Massachusetts empowers teachers and schools to radically turn-around their learning outcomes. Together with her colleagues, she hosted T2TGlobal team members on The Math Together Show and has traveled with us to both Ecuador and Guatemala.
Who is Susan Looney?
This ethnomathematician, professor, and current T2TGlobal board member has taught in Brazil, China, Canada, Haiti, and Mozambique. In the field, we know him for his expertise in proportional reasoning approaches to rational number knowledge. When Chadd thinks of his most trusted advisors, this socially responsive math educator is sure to top the list.
Who is Arthur Powell?
This author of the series Mathematize it! taught 5th grade remotely during the 2020-21 school year. A heavy hitting influencer in the world of math education, she is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and has been a coordinator for Elementary Professional Development at NCTM. Her advocacy for teachers and students keeps her top of mind for upholding integrity.
Who is Kim Morrow-Leong?
This four times president of the Inter-American Committee on Mathematics Education serves as a major influencer for mathematics education reform in Central America. We have spent time with him at several international math conferences thanks to his buddy Rick Scott.
Who is Angel Ruiz?
This mathematics education change agent is currently a principal researcher at the American Institutes for Research. Having participated in countless events and trips with us, the current EAB chair may very well be T2TGlobal's biggest cheerleader.
Who is Steve Leinwand?
This Kentucky-based professor has co-authored some of the most popular books on the market for teacher pre-service and in-service learning. She was the lead writer for the Association of Math Teacher Educators Standards for the Preparation of Teachers of Mathematics and has been working with Chadd to support educators' discovery of student-centered learning in Zimbabwe and Malawi. Fairly new to T2TGlobal but having a child from Guatemala, she has a personal connection to our mission and geography.
Who is Jennifer (Jenny) Bay-Williams?
This district-level leader from Illinois works collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, and principals to strengthen curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that foster student academic and social emotional learning. Having traveled with us to Nepal and recently getting reconnected, her concrete, practical, organized approach to feedback is an asset to the work of T2TGlobal.
Who is Kristin Johnson?
This Executive Director of the California Mathematics Project traveled with us to Nepal and recently co-authored a book with a framework for equitable math teaching. As a featured guest in Season 2 of Math 4 Antiracism, we are inspired by his commitment to antiracist math education that upholds the strongest standard of rigor, opportunity, and access for all students.
