Emotions are feelings we get, words to describe how our body feel

Usually we associate being happy with positive emotions and feeling 'good'
Walking away from a situation that is making you feel bad, playing outside, running, swimming

Tenacity, determination, endurance, grit
Does being happy mean you're always going to get your way?
No! Being happy is about mindset
What is the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset?
A fixed mindset means your way of thinking is stuck and you're not willing to grow and get better.
A growth mindset means you're open to learning and trying things again, you know that practice means progress not perfection!

Happy, joy, sad, anger, fear, disgust, excited, surprise

Tensing and relaxing your muscles, spending time in nature, taking a nap, breathing exercises
Why is it important to have goals to help us get through hard tasks?
Goals can give us direction on how to proceed to get through something hard
Goals give us the end in sight and help keep us motivated to keep going

Why is it important to persevere?
Without pushing through hard tasks/days/weeks, we would not continue to grow and get things done.
Learning how to persevere is important to be able do hard things.

Identifying and managing thoughts and feelings; understanding character traits and strengths, gratitude, growth mindset

Even though I know my team is going to lose, I am going to try to play as hard as I can and have fun anyway!

If someone gets in front of you in line, you can think either "they're so rude" or "maybe they really need to eat fast because they need to go early, or get something done while they eat"

Tell someone else how you feel; asking for help; talking about how you feel to a trusted person (friends, parent, teacher)
What would happen if we don't persevere?
We would not be able to accomplish anything and we will not grow and learn
What is a growth mindset?
A growth mindset allows us to think positively about situations and allows us to become more happy
How can you change this persons thinking to be more positive?
"I don't think I'll play soccer any more, I don't seem to be getting any better."
I didn't get to practice that much this week but if I keep practicing I can keep playing and having fun and I'll probably keep doing a little better
