This is the complete performance-based assessment that asks candidates to demonstrate leadership in observing, assessing, and supporting an individual teacher’s effectiveness.
What is Task 3?

This first component requires the candidate to identify a priority academic area, select an instructional focus, study instructional practices, and learn about the school’s observation context.
What is Component 1: Investigate?
This artifact documents both the candidate’s investigation and the preparation and findings from the pre-observation meeting.
What is Artifact 1: Pre-Observation Template?
Remember: Artifact 1 connects to both Components 1 and 2.

This artifact is a 15-minute continuous, unedited recording of the observed teacher’s classroom instruction.

A candidate uploads a link to an external file instead of uploading the required evidence. This is the problem.

What is an artifact?
Remember: Artifacts are primary sources of evidence created by the candidate.

Remember: The commentary should analyze leadership. It's not simply recap activities.
This broad term includes the artifacts, supporting documents, commentary, and other required work products scorers use to assess a candidate’s leadership practice.
What is evidence?
During this component, the candidate solicits the teacher’s feedback and analyzes the development of their own leadership skills.
What is Component 4: Assess?
This artifact is a memo to the observed teacher that analyzes instructional practices, student learning, and the teacher’s strengths and areas for improvement.
What is Artifact 4: Analysis of Observed Teaching?
There is an additional requirement : Up to two single-spaced pages or 1,000 words.
A candidate refers to student work in the Analysis of Observed Teaching but does not include that student work in the submission. Identify the evidence problem.
Referenced supporting evidence must be included in the appropriate category documents and cited appropriately?
A candidate writes, “First, I met with the teacher. Next, I observed the lesson. Finally, we met to discuss the lesson.” Identify what is missing.
What is analysis of the candidate’s leadership skills, learning, development, effectiveness, and areas for improvement?
