The law held schools accountable for how kids learned and achieved. It forced schools to accommodate for handicapped children, and children to who were low or high level The law was controversial in part because it penalized schools that didn't show improvement.

Its the court case that disallowed the segregation of races in schools. It also deemed it unconstitutional.

Schools have the right look inside the locker, but not in the students personal belongings without probable cause. A teacher or administrator cannot do the searching, it must be an officer.

It regarded the lack of supplemental language instruction in public schools for students with limited English. This was deemed unconstitutional under the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
